Body weight is a measurement of the vertical force exerted by a mass as a result of gravity reporting weight. It is unique to every individual and varies greatly with diverse body types and compositions. There is no homogenous, ideal body weight which fits everyone. Contrary to popular belief, body weight is not an accurate indicator for how healthy an individual may be. However, abnormal body weight fluctuations can be signs of illnesses such as eating disorders, Depression, PCOS, Hyperthyroidism, or Diabetes. Higher accuracy tests to determine health include blood pressure, resting heart rate, heart rate recovery, cholesterol levels, and inflammation.
